Kanektok River 2016 - Victor Nemeth MD

Folders

Early July on the Kanektok River at the Dave Duncan and Sons upper base camp. This is a tent camp allowing access to probably 30 miles of river. My nephew and I spent a week at the camp. The camp is located ~30 miles up the Kanektok River from Quinhagak. The weather was up and down but better than we have had in the past trips to Alaska. The river was packed with fish and we enjoyed catching a variety of fish. There were 4 species of salmon (pink, sockeye, chum, king), Dolly Varden, Grayling and Leopard Rainbow Trout in the river. It was great fun fishing with a mouse pattern dry fly and seeing Rainbow Trout come racing out of cover to strike the fly. The river was crystal clear so we could easily see the fish in the water.
